So, my sweet Hayden started the year out with a bang, well, more like a break, when he fell off the monkey bars the 4th day of school. The school nurse, unable to reach me, called Rick to tell him Hayden had fallen on the monkey bars and was pretty sure it was broken...so, I get this call from Rick...needless to say I am grateful we live just around the corner from school and the hospital is only about 4 miles from home. The first thing I'm thinking is oh, crap, how is he going to write (it was his right wrist). The first thing Rick thinks is "How can he have done this so close to our Lake Powell trip?" Here's the breakdown
July 28: School calls "pretty sure it's broken"
July 28: ER set's and splints it (with Gunnar in tow)
July 29th: Find new doctor so we can get a referral to OS (with Gunnar in tow)
Aug. 1: OS says needs 2 pins for "optimal recovery"...broke both bones (with Gunnar in tow)
Aug. 3: Surgery day....(NO Gunnar in tow, finally)
Aug. 10: OS follow-up and gets cast (with Gunnar in tow)
Aug. 13th leave for Lake Powell
Sept. 21st: Pins out, Cast off!!!!!
